Do you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) and are wondering if you can use the funds for massage therapy? We here at Apsara Spa are excited to announce that we now accept Health Savings account cards for our massage services! All of our amazing massage services now qualify for HSA, meaning you have the perfect opportunity to get a relaxing 60 or 90 minute massage with Jessica or Tyria, while still qualifying for the HSA program!**
In order for your prescription to qualify for IRS regulations, your physician will need to provide the following:
- Why do you need massage therapy? (back pain, anxiety, carpal tunnel syndrome )
- How frequent do you need to receive treatment? (Ex: 1x per month/12x per year)
- How long should you receive treatment? (Ex: 6 months/1 year)
**You must ensure you have obtained prior approval for the massage from your doctor, insurance provider and ensure that your HSA/FSA will cover the massage session. The treatment must be approved and prescribed by a physician. Examples of medical conditions that qualify include carpal tunnel, back pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia, anxiety, depression and pain management. Only certain conditions are covered, so have all of your approvals before making your massage appointment.
If you have an HSA account look into your coverage and see if you can start using it with us! We will gladly provide you with any receipts necessary to help with reimbursement too!
More information about HSA is made available within IRS publication 969 & 502.
